Revitalizing Your EMDR Therapy Practice:

An EMDR Therapy Refresher Course

Abstract

This workshop’s intent is to revitalize and fine-tune participants’ EMDR therapy skills. Through a combination of lectures, live demonstrations and supervised practica, participants will review and learn the EMDR Standard Protocol at a deeper level. Clinicians who are afraid to use EMDR therapy in their practice will revitalize their skill and interest in using the protocol. Clinicians who already use the protocol will get live supervision to enhance their skill level even more. Advanced issues such as how to attune the dual attention stimuli to facilitate processing and what to do when a client with dissociative symptoms cannot tolerate Phase 4 processing will be taught. This workshop is for EMDR therapy clinicians at any level. 

Objectives

1)     Define dual awareness and why this is vital for good treatment outcomes.

2)     Demonstrate 2 ways to attune the dual awareness stimuli to facilitate processing.

3)     Demonstrate correct implementation of the standard protocol in supervised practica.

4)     Fine-tune EMDR therapy skills

About the Instructor

Kathleen Martin, LCSWis an EMDRIA Approved EMDR Consultant and Trainer and specializes in trauma and dissociation in her private practice in Rochester, NY, USA.  She has published an article entitled How to Use Fraser’s Dissociative Table Technique to Access and Work with Emotional Parts of the Personality and has another one in press on the importance and art of time orientation.    She developed a strategy called Oblique Time Orientation that is detailed in this later article. She also wrote a chapter for a book on Eating disorders entitledStructural Dissociation in the Treatment of Trauma and Eating Disorders.    

Continuing Education Hours

13 EMDRIA continuing education credits will be offered.

NY Social Workers:Offered in collaboration with the UB School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education; recognized by the New York State Education Department\'s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0001.  Full attendance is required; partial attendance is not given for partial credit.       12.5 live in-person contact hours are approved.

NY Mental Health Counselors:Offered in collaboration with the UB School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education; recognized by the New York State Education Department\'s State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed mental health counselors #MHC-0008. Full attendance is required; partial attendance is not given for partial credit. 12.5 live in-person contact hours are approved. 

Tuition

$325. Please register by January 9.   After January 9, the tuition price increases to $375.

You must be trained in EMDR therapy to attend. A certificate of completion of your EMDR Basic Training (or Level 2) must accompany your registration.

 

Cancellation Policy

Cancelling your attendance at this workshop after you have registered and made payment will invoke the refund policy below.

Refund Policy

Refund requests must be in writing and received at least 3 weeks prior to the start of this workshop. A full refund will be given up to 21 days prior to the start of the workshop. After that no refund will be given unless your spot can be filled by someone on the waiting list. If your spot can be filled, a full refund minus a $50 processing fee will be given.
